Justice Department Ends Powell Investigation – U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that she was closing her inquiry into Jerome Powell.  As a result, Senator Thom Tillis said that he planned to support the confirmation of Kevin Warsh as the new Federal Reserve chair.  Jerome Powell’s term as Fed Chair is set to end on May 15.

Warsh Testimony – Fed Chair nominee Kevin Warsh said that he is committed to maintaining the Federal Reserve’s independence if he is confirmed as Fed Chair.  However, he also pledged to implement significant reforms to the institution as he believes the status quo can be “harmful” to the public when the world is changing so fast.

Iran Peace Talks – Reports indicate that Iran is offering to terminate its nuclear ambitions in exchange for being able to manage the Strait of Hormuz.  The U.S. continues to blockade Iran’s ports in hopes to pressure the country to negotiate.  Iran’s storage has begun to fill up as they seek alternative storage and transportation options with reports indicating they are trying to ship oil to China via rail and have begun using storage tanks in poor condition to prevent having to shut down any of their production facilities, which can be very costly and difficult to restart.  The price of a barrel of Brent Crude oil rose to nearly $110 in early trading on Monday.

Feel the Rhythm – For over 40 years, International Dance Day has been celebrated on April 29, honoring Jean-Georges Noverre, the “father” of modern ballet. Dancers mark the occasion with events that highlight dance as both an art form and an educational tool—sometimes even sparking a flash mob. To join the celebration, Apple is offering a special Fitness app badge for recording a dance workout of at least 20 minutes on April 29.
