Recent News


US-Iran Conflict Continues – President Trump stated on Wednesday that the initial agreement with Iran to end the conflict was “over.”  The U.S. launched new attacks on Iran over the last week and revoked their license to sell crude oil.  This was done in response to fresh attacks from Iran on ships looking to cross the Strait of Hormuz.  The breakdown between the two countries caused an increase in the price of WTI oil of approximately 14% over the last week.

Housing Bill Becomes Law – Despite President Trump refusing to sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, the bill became law automatically in late July.  If a President doesn’t veto or sign a bill for 10 days since being approved by Congress, the bill is enacted.  The law seeks to streamline the environmental review process for new homes, lower construction costs on manufactured homes, and incentivize local governments to ease zoning restrictions.

The Odyssey – Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey opens this week.  The movie is the first feature film to be shot entirely on 70mm IMAX film and has an estimated budget of $250 million, the largest of any of Nolan’s films.  If the movie grosses over $1 billion, Nolan will join James Cameron as the only directors with three movies the grossed over $1 billion.  His previous films The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises both topped $1 billion.
